'EastEnders' fans are to see Sonia and Martin Fowler's marriage hit the rocks again - over a lesbian kiss.

Sonia, played by Natalie Cassidy, goes to her old college friend Naomi, played by Petra Letang, for advice about her marital problems.

While they are talking, Petra confesses she has feelings for Sonia - and the pair end up smooching.

A show insider told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Naomi's comforting words soon turn to passion and she admits to Sonia that she's in love with her.

"When Naomi plants a kiss, a stunned Sonia finds herself returning it, and she's immediately riddled with guilt."

After the passionate embrace, Sonia runs home to Martin, played by James Alexandrou, in a bid to prove she doesn't have genuine lesbian tendencies.

The source added: "We hope there won't be complaints, even though it is pre-watershed TV. The issue will be dealt with in a sensitive and caring fashion."
