Congratulations are in order for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. They welcomed a baby boy into the world at 16:24 BST on Monday. The bundle of joy has yet to be named, as of time of writing.
The world of parenting involves many challenges and joys. For many parents though, worrying about providing for children can create undue stress. It’s true that children necessitate financial stability, but sometimes the cost of providing essentials such as clothing and decent child care can take a heavy toll. Here are a few suggestions to help get by:
- Children typically grow very quickly, especially in their infancy. This makes clothing your baby even more difficult. They’re also messy and can go through a number of outfits in just one day. Don’t waste money purchasing all-new clothing. Accept hand-me-downs, donations, and gently-used clothing to reduce the financial strain of replenishing baby’s wardrobe.
- Childcare is another expense that most parents need to consider. If you don’t have someone you trust and you can’t afford more expensive care, consider finding a person you do trust who might be able to give you a deal.
You might be able to rely on family members, or friends who also have children. You might be able to work out a mutually beneficial deal where you watch the children on your days off, and your friend watches them on the days you work. Being creative with childcare solutions can go a long way in reducing financial strain.
- If you have enough time, making your own baby food can be a great way to reduce the amount you spend on prepared baby foods. Breastfeeding, even as just a way to supplement a mostly-formula diet, can significantly reduce financial expenses related to food.
