Drugs In Schools Seized

Hundreds of school children, including an 8-year-old, have been caught with drugs on school premises.

Hundreds of school children were caught with drugs including heroin and crack cocaine on school premises. Official figures from 34 police forces from England and Wales confirmed that more than 2,000 incidents have been reported dating back to 2011. Teachers described the statistics just the “tip of the iceberg.” 

 

The figures were obtained by Press Association news agency (PA), which requested every police force in England and Wales for information on cases involving illegal drugs that were confiscated from school premises from March 2011 to the end of 2014. 

 

The data revealed that 625 of the cases involved cannabis while 27 were about cocaine. Other drugs that were confiscated included LSD, amphetamines, and ecstasy. There were two cases each of heroin possession at schools in the West Midlands, Surrey and Greater Manchester, and Hertfordshire. 

 

Meanwhile, an eight year old was caught with cannabis in Staffordshire while a 10-year-old at Leicester primary school was caught carrying £5 worth of the drug.

 

The report added that 241 incidents involved 15-16 year olds while there were 231 cases that involved 11-14 years old.
