One Desperate Housewives star is to be killed off...

The character to die in Desperate Housewives has been revealed as Mike Delfino in the court case surrounding the show.

James Denton, who has been a series regular since its debut in 2004, plays Terri HatcherÂ’s characterÂ’s husband on the long-running show. 

The news was accidentally revealed during Nicolette SheridanÂ’s court case against the show's creator, Marc Cherry. 

After the cat was out of the bag, Denton told Entertainment Weekly:

"I was really surprised. Any other year, I would have been disappointed, but at this point I figured, well, we made it... As an actor, you just hope people care."

Recalling his final scenes, he said:

"I remember lying in the threshold [while filming the scene] with the blood pouring out of me looking up at the top of the porch. I've been there for over eight years, and I've done so many scenes on that porch... It was a little creepy... It was sort of fitting."

The revelation is the first from the trial, which has captivated the media. Sheridan, who played man-eater Edie Britt in the drama, is suring series creator Cherry for wrongfully terminating her from the series. 

She has also accused him of assaulting her during filming of the show.
