The victim was shot dead after dropping off his two children at the school.
36-year-old Benny Whitehouse knew that his life was in danger and tried to buy a bulletproof vest just before he was shot dead. He was riddled with bullets by a callous lone gunman just seconds after he dropped his children at school. His partner, Natasha White, who was with him when the shooting took place, was hit in the legs.
The victim’s body remained where he fell for nearly four hours after he was gunned down. His mother pleased with gardai to allow her through the scenes-of-crime cordon. She screamed: “Please let me see my boy. For God’s sake let me see my boy on the footpath before they put him in the ambulance. You have to let me see him.”
A source confirmed that the victim was shot at least four times.
“He didn’t stand a chance. The person who carried out this killing had one intention and that was to kill him.
“A number of lines of enquiry are currently being examined as to why he was targeted but it’s believed that it was part of an ongoing feud involving drugs.
“His partner was hit in the thigh during the attack.
“It’s believed those behind the shooting knew where Benny was going to be and pounced when the time was right.
“He had literally just dropped his child off at school when he was shot.
“Benny was known to gardai and had appeared before court on numerous occasions.
“He was up in March charged with being in unlawful possession of drugs for sale or supply.”
