The National Gallery in London has ranked first in the UK in the Travellers’ Choice awards to honour the finest museums open to the public. It features 2,300 paintings from the mid-13th century up to the 20th century including beloved works of Rembrandt, Vincent van Gogh, and Leonardo da Vinci. It was followed by The British Museum, which is considered another London icon.
TripAdvisor spokesperson James Kay said: 'It is clear from the millions of reviews and opinions written by our global community of travellers that London remains home to some of the world’s best loved museums.
'On top of that, many of the UK’s 10 winning museums are free to visit, making them an ideal choice of attraction for the wallet as well as the mind.'
Landing in third place in the UK is the Roman Baths in Bath, followed by Victoria & Albert Museum and the Churchill War Rooms in London.
Also included in the top 10 are the National Railway in York, National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Brunel’s SS Great Britain, and Bristol and Natural History Museum.
