Danny Dyer's debut in EastEnders as landlord Mick Carter revealed

Danny Dyer will make his swaggering entrance as new landlord Mick Carter over Christmas.

A new photo from an upcoming episode of EastEnders has revealed a festive Danny Dyer making his debut as new landlord Mick Carter.

Dyer, star of hit crime film The Business, is pictured sporting a broad grin as he throws open the doors of the infamous drinking establishment.

His character, which is described as a “bloke’s bloke” with a heart of gold, will be joined by wife Linda played by Kellie Bright, two children named Johnny and Nancy, and a pet bulldog name Lady Di.

Dyer, talking about his arrival on the show says that it was a big responsibility in the wake of falling ratings.

Speaking to Absolute Radio, the star said: “I’m bringing something to soap land that’s never been seen before. I’m telling you that now.

“I’m a little bit disappointed at how EastEnders has been going sort of in the ratings and you know we’re losing out to other soaps.

“You know I’m getting quite passionate about it now.  I feel like I’m part of their team. So I want to help.  I want to help turn the show around.  So I’m, listen, I’m going to freak some people out mate.  I’m taking it to the next level.”
