Tom Cruise and fiancée Katie Holmes welcomed their new baby girl into the world yesterday (18.04.06).
The thrilled couple have named the tot Suri, which means princess in Hebrew and translates as red rose in Persian.
The baby weighed in at 7lb 7oz and measured 50 centimetres.
Tom's spokesman, Paul Bloch, said: "They joyously welcomed the arrival of a baby girl Suri. Mother and baby are doing well."
'Batman Begins' star Katie was taken to St John's Hospital, near Santa Monica, in a limousine after going into labour around midday yesterday (18.04.06).
Staff shielded her with umbrellas as she arrived at the clinic.
It's not known whether the 27-year-old stuck to the silent birth she and 43-year-old Tom had allegedly planned.
As devout followers of Scientology, it was reported the pair would follow a bizarre ritual that encourages mums to deliver babies without making any noise.
Scientologists believe parents should adhere to silent birthing to prevent children from developing psychological problems in later life.
