Cowell's to sign £100m deal

Simon Cowell is negotiating a mega money deal with US TV talent show 'American Idol'.

The music mogul is in talks to sign a £100million-a-year contract, which would make him the highest paid star in TV history.

A Fox insider told The Daily Mirror: "The word went out from on high to pay Simon what he needs.

"Without him the show would be a shadow of itself. And without American Idol weÂ’re in the dumper."

If Cowell manages to secure the deal with Fox he will quadruple his current £25million-a-year salary. This means he would earn a staggering £2.2million an hour on screen.

Fox has also signed up 'American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest for another three years in a deal worth £30million.
