Coronation Street's ex-jailbird John Stape (Graeme Hawley) is to feature in a new controversial storyline.
Despite his conviction for kidnapping a pupil, the ex-con will be offered a new job as a teacher.
The Sun claims that John, knowing he can't work as a teacher with a criminal record, will apply for a position in an adult education centre instead.
His new wife Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) will not support his idea but John looks on the opportunity as a way of having a new start after abducting conniving schoolgirl Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan) and holding her captive.
Bosses have reportedly promised to handle the issue sensitively.
An insider told The Sun: "We know that John returning to teaching and the fact the college may not check him out properly will cause a lot of controversy with our viewers.
"But in true Corrie tradition John's job and whether he pursues it for long will be one of our great slow-burning storylines."
