Coronation Street's resident killer Tony Gordon is set to strike again, and Roy Cropper (David Neilsen) could be his latest victim.
Scenes shot this week revealed a knife-wielding Tony confronting Roy by a Manchester canal, resulting in a fight in and around the water.
Minutes later, the twisted factory boss (played Gray O'Brien) walks away with blood on his hands.
The canal showdown is set to be the climax to Gordon's character arc.
In recent weeks, Tony, who killed Liam Connor last year, has shown his softer side, settling down into a romantic relationship.
But when Roy and wife Hayley find out the truth about Liam's death, Tony's cover is blown.
The violent plotline sees him stalk Roy from the shadows while the naive cafe owner sits bat-watching by Manchester Canal.
Viewers will have to wait until November to find out if the blood on Tony's hands belongs to himself, Roy, or someone else.
O'Brien is taking a leave of absence from Corrie in November to star in a pantomime show.
He will return briefly in March before finally bowing out of the show.
