Soap spoiler alert! A poisoning plotline is set to rock the street.
Corrie stalwart Betty Williams (formerly Turpin) will accidentally poison someone with her famous hotpot.
The veteran lady behind the Rovers Return fears that she'll be sent to prison after her rival in a competition for 'Manchester's Oldest Barmaid' is accidentally given a portion of her stew. The trouble is that this serving is actually two months past its sell-by date.
The plot involving Betty (Betty Driver) is to coincide with her 90th birthday celebrations.
According to the leaked storyline, Enid Crump arrives in the Rovers and angrily announces that she will win the Weatherfield Gazzette competition for the city's oldest barmaid as she's 91.
After a heated argument breaks out, Rovers landlord Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) offers Enid a glass of sherry and some hotpot, but microwaves a dish that's been in the fridge for two months.
Enid then ends up being rushed to hospital with acute food poisoning.
It is unknown whether Enid will survive or whether Betty will be prosecuted.
Driver has played the role of Betty for 40 years, and her iconic character's hotpots have become a staple of the soap. The role of of her rival Enid is yet to be cast.
