After three years away, Sunita Alahan is set to return to the Street

Coronation Street favourite Sunita Alahan is set to return to the Street after three years away.

Sunita, played by Shobna Gulati, arrives on the cobbles to stir up more trouble for her cheating ex-husband Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkinson).

An insider told The Daily Mirror: "Talks have been going on for some time to finalise a deal acceptable to all those who are involved.

"Sunita was a great character so to have her back is exciting".

In February 2006 after giving birth to twins fathered by Dev, Sunita left Weatherfield having discovered that her husband already had several children with different women.

This will be the second big shock of recent time for Dev from the women in his life.

His current lover, Tara Mandel (Ayesha Dharker), publically humiliated him when she revealed a billboard sized photograph of him naked, with only the word "liar" covering his modesty.

Sunita is expected to arrive on the cobbles later in the year.
