Spoiler alert! Coronation Street's resident adulteress Molly Dobbs is set to be killed off in a Christmas storyline.
The Sun newspaper revealed that the frisky character (played by Vicky Binns), who is pregnant after betraying her husband Tyrone with mechanic Kevin Webster, will meet a fateful end.
The move will leave Kevin's long-suffering wife Sally holding the baby as the couple take in the child after Molly's death.
The soap's new executive producer Phil Collinson revealed: "I don't want to give too much away, but there's going to be a dead body on Coronation Street.
"It's going to be a death that will affect a couple of our most significant characters in a way that will hopefully be really surprising and exciting.
"It's the beginning of a story that's going to take us across the next year.
"This storyline has been central to the drama of the show for a year now and I hope that the many different twists and turns we have planned will keep the fans on the edge of their seats for months to come."
Molly and Kevin pledged to leave their partners on Christmas Day to start a new life together, but fate has other ideas. It has not yet been revealed how she will meet her demise.
Actress Binns previously commented on her upcoming departure: "It's been a joy to be involved in such a fantastic storyline and it is only right that it has the explosive ending viewers are waiting for.
"I am very excited about playing out the rest of this plot and indeed about what the future holds. I've had an amazing time in the show and feel it's right to leave on such a high."
