Coronation Street fight scene turns real as cast member taken to hospital

An extra playing one of Todd Grimshaw’s attackers was taken to the hospital after a night shoot fight scene took a violent, real-life, turn.

A Coronation Street extra, playing one of Todd Grimshaw’s attackers, was taken to the hospital on Wednesday night after falling face-first onto the pavement causing real blood to stream from his nose. The real-life drama occurred during a late night shoot featuring Bruno Langley’s character, who it seems will be attacked by a group of thugs in upcoming weeks.

A Coronation Street spokeswoman told Mirror TV: "The actor in question sustained a minor injury when he fell during filming. He was taken to hospital as a precaution but he is fine and well."

Todd’s attack is the latest incident in a tough few weeks for the character.

"He feels like the black sheep of the family and that’s not a good feeling," said Bruno.

"He feels bad - he’s at his lowest ebb. The one thing that’s he always been able to count on is his mum sticking by him and backing him up.

"There’s one line where Eileen says ‘I wash my hands of you’ and she’s never said that to Todd before. He’s always been the golden boy and he's not anymore. He’s now been demoted."
