Coldplay to split

Coldplay are splitting up.

Frontman Chris Martin - who is married to actress Gwyneth Paltrow - announced the news as he collected two awards at the Brits last night (15.02.06).

But the singer hinted the band - who won Best Single for 'Speed of Sound' and Best Album for 'X and Y' - would reunite in the future.

He told the crowd: "This means so much to us, especially now.

"It's going to be a few years before you see us again.

"People are fed up with us - and so are we."

Friends of the star have claimed he wants to spend more time with pregnant Gwyneth and their daughter, Apple.

Coldplay wowed the crowd with a spectacular performance of 'Square One' at the star-studded bash.

One guest said: "His antics topped an absolutely storming set by Coldplay. It was probably one of the best seen at the event in a long time. The crowd absolutely loved it."
