Will Mellor the former Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps star is in the running to replace Jeremy Clarkson as the new host of motoring show, Top Gear. BBC bosses said that the 39-year-old would relate and could attract younger as well as female audience. Meanwhile, Will is said to be excited to be considered for the position, as he loves cars with a passion.
A source told BANG Showbiz: "Will has emerged as one of the favourites for the job. Bosses think he would be perfect to take the helm and would bring a younger audience with him that has grown up with him on Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and Hollyoaks.
"He also has a lot of female admirers who could tune in, which is something that Clarkson didn't have."
Will, who is highly regarded by BBC, has appeared in several sitcoms and dramas over the years. Most recently, he appeared in baby drama In The Club opposite Jill Halfpenny.
Meanwhile, individuals who were said to have been considered for Jeremy’s old job include Chris Evans, Sue Perkins, Jodie Kidd, Dermot O’Leary, and Philip Glenister.
