Christina Aguilera claims making her latest album was the same as being pregnant - twice.
The sexy singer recently put the finishing touches to latest offering 'Back To Basics' and admits recording it felt like she was bringing a new life into the world.
She said: "I feel like I've been pregnant for 18 months - it's been tough."
Aguilera has revealed the album - the follow-up to 2002's hugely successful 'Stripped' - is heavily influence by early jazz, as well as her favourite pop and soul records from her childhood.
She added: "We decided to dive headfirst into a 20s and 30s vibe. We have a song that sounds like you've just walked into a burlesque club. There's a lot of stuff that people haven't heard from me before. On one song, I'm just above the mic. There's no reverb and no effects. No gimmicks at all - nothing."
However, despite the change of direction, Christina, who's famed for her raunchy stage antics, insists people will still be able to get down and dirty to her new tracks.
She told America's Rolling Stone magazine: "The album uses horn samples so it sounds gritty and old. But we've spliced that with something that people can still dance to."
