R&B singer Chris Brown may face a possible prison sentence after a US judge revoked his probation from 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna. The decision came after Brown was involved in a hit-and-run car accident in California in May.
This accident has prompted the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office to seek revocation of the five-year probation he was placed on after he pled guilty to assaulting Rihanna.
However, Brown has avoided jail for now. He was released on his own recognizance but was ordered to return to court in August to respond to the district attorney’s allegations.
Legal documents filed by the prosecutors said that the singer “wilfully and unlawfully” broke the law in the hit-and-car accident. Reportedly, the other driver involved in the accident said that Brown refused to give his license, insurance information, and registration after the singer read-ended her Mercedes-Benz.
The Mercedes driver, Olga Gure-Kovalenko, said that she will not press charges.
