Netflix is reportedly working on a new technology to allow its viewers to decide how their favourite shows will end. To make this happen, directors and producers will have to film several plot segments in advance. Reports added the scheme will be tested with shows for children later this year. Depending on the outcomes, it could be expanded to include programmes for adults.
A source said: "We're doing work on branch narratives so you are actually making choices as you watch. All the content will be there, and then people will have to get through it in different ways,"
"We'll see how it plays out. It's an experiment. We'll see if it gets much success. For creators, it's new territory."
Netflix, which isn’t the first broadcaster to experiment with interactive TV, is yet to comment on the reports. It is also not clear if it intends to apply the format to existing series.
