Chelsea football team claimed a win in Holland last night, Wednesday 16th May, 2013, as they beat Benfica 2-1 in the Europe League final, with their victory coming in the last minutes of play.
It was Branislav Ivanovic who scored the winning goal, sending the ball to the back of the Portuguese net in the last minute of injury time.
This came after Benfica’s Oscar Cardoza equalised 1-1; following the first goal of the game coming from Chelsea with Fernando Torres’ goal.
And after the tense game had ended, fans watched as Chelsea lifted their trophy during the presentation.
It was Frank Lampard, 34, the vice-captain for the club, who helped raise the Europe Leaguetrophy on the platform, surrounded by the rest of the elated Chelsea team.
Chelsea captain John Terry, aged 32, who did not play in last night’s match, donned on his kit and joined in the celebrations.
