A new show on Channel 4 will ask viewers to decide which British building should be demolished live on television.
The four part series will see viewers voting for the worst building in Britain before the winner is destroyed.
Called Demolition, programme-makers are hoping to capitalise on the success of BBC's Restoration, where popular historic buildings were saved from the scrapheap, rather than consigned to it.
Demolition is to be aired at the beginning of 2005 and may be followed up by a subsequent programme that will follow the development of a replacement building.
Behind the programme is a partnership between Channel 4 and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and a panel of experts will make the final decision on which building should be demolished in front of the nation.
Executive producer of Demolition, Nick Kent from Oxford Film and Television, commented: "It's about kick-starting a nationwide debate about the value of architecture and empowering people to feel they can improve the quality of the built environment."
