Canada has welcomed two giant pandas which are on loan from China!
Five-year-old Er Shun and four-year-old Da Mao arrived on a specially-adapted FedEx Express Canadian plane and were personally welcomed to the country by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his wife Lauren.
The arrivals marks the realization of the deal made by Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Chinese ambassador Zhang Junsai, when the former visited China a year ago.
Ties between the two countries have improved since Mr. Harper’s first visit in 2009.
The newly arrived pandas will spend five years each in Toronto and Calgary zoos. They will be quarantined for 30 days and will be kept away from the public until a special exhibit opens later this year.
