Building collapses near to Mumbai leaving many dead
A building which has fallen near to India’s Mumbai has resulted in at least 35 people being killed

The collapse of a building in the Thane region has killed at least 35 people and injured many more, police have confirmed. The incident is believed to have resulted in the death of 11 children according to the officials.
Following the collapse of the building, which is understood to have occurred on Thursday, 4th April, near Mumbai, India, rescue teams have been working on the site looking for survivors among the rubble. It is not known what the cause was, as of time of press.
At least 50 individuals have been hurt because the building, which was under construction, fell. It is understood there were seven levels to the structure, and based on reports, an eighth floor was to be added.
There are rumours in some media reports that the building work which was being carried out was not fully legal, although this is unclear as of time of writing.
Mumbai, previously referred to as Bombay, is the capital of Maharashtra, in India. It lies on the West coast of the country, in the Thane West area. Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh surround Maharashtra.
Tall buildings, or multi-storey constructions, are often a way for many residents to live in an area where there is little room for structures to be built.
