Pierce Brosnan is reportedly planning to reprise his role as the gentleman thief, Thomas Crown.
After starring in the 1999 remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, the Irish actor is said to be keen to make a sequel.
The Topkapi Affair will, according to movie magazine Variety, draw on elements of an earlier film and book, The Light of the Day.
The Thomas Crown Affair was itself a remake of a 1960s classic starring screen legends Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway.
Despite the obvious risk of following in such illustrious footsteps, Brosnan's Thomas Crown was well received and the studio, MGM, has been keen on a sequel for some time.
Brosnan is looking to pursue new projects now that the producers of the James Bond franchise appear set on finding a new leading man.
The 51-year-old recently starred in the romantic comedy Laws of Attraction alongside Julianne Moore.
