It's hard to imagine the great British breakfast without bacon; whether it's part of a full English, or piled between two slices of bread for a butty, it is undeniably delicious.
However, bacon is much more versatile than you may think.
With an extensive range of different cuts and cures available, it can liven up a huge assortment of meals for any part of the day.
As well as introducing the many possibilities of cooking with bacon, this year's Bacon Connoisseurs' Week (March 22 -28) features the search to find the best bacon cure of 2010 in the national Bring Home the Bacon competition.
To celebrate the annual Bacon Connoisseurs' Week event, self-confessed foodie, dancing sensation Anton Du Beke shares his love of bacon, taking us on a guide from the experts all about the meaty treat.
In the following video, ever-charismatic bacon lover Du Beke, visits Europe's largest meat market, Smithfields, to discover different types curing as well as learning why we should look for packs with the Red Tractor Mark.
Along with home economist, butcher and chef Clare Greenstreet, he also guides us through some delicious recipes using bacon; including a tasty Chilli and Lemon Kedgeree, an Upside Down Bacon Hotpot, and even some savoury brunch or midday Bacon Muffins, which are sure to be enjoyed by the whole family.
