Britney Spears has sparked speculation she is expecting a baby boy.

The singer, due to give birth in October, went on a shopping spree at a Beverly Hills boutique buying a staggering $10,000 of baby boy clothes.

A source told American website MSNBC.com: "Her rep called the store, Petit Tresor, and had it closed down. Britney came in with her bodyguards and spent about $10,000.

"She has very good taste, actually: elegant and simple. I was surprised."

Earlier this year, Britney hinted she was expecting a baby girl after stocking up on frilly pink outfits in the same exclusive store.

The twice-wed star enjoyed an extravagant spending spree, buying up designer clothes, blankets and bibs.

But an insider claims the first shopping expedition wasn't for her, adding: "That must have been for someone else. This latest shop was definitely for her unborn child."

A Petit Tresor spokeswoman would "neither confirm nor deny" Britney's baby shop. However, another source backed up the claims, saying Britney and husband Kevin Federline are already choosing names for the unborn boy.

The insider confessed: "They're mulling over several names, but the one they favour is Preston."
