EastEnders and Coronation Street came out on top at this yearÂ’s British Soap Awards, with each winning seven gongs.
It was Eastenders that was named Best British Soap at the awards, held in London and presented by Phillip Schofield.
Pat St Clement, who quit the BBC One soap last year, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award for her role as Pat Evans, while writer Simon Ashdown took home the Special Achievement award for the East London serial.
The gritty soap also took the awards for Best Dramatic Performance, Best Young Performance and Best On-Screen Partnership.
Coronation Street won the Best Single Episode award for 'Becky's Final Farewell', and Stephanie Cole was given the Best Comedy Performance for her role as Sylvia Goodwin, Roy CropperÂ’s mother.
Emmerdale, meanwhile, took home three awards, with Danny Miller being crowned Best Actor, and the show winning the Spectacular Scene Of The Year and Best Storyline gongs.
