Parliament's authorities announced today that one of Britain's best-known landmarks Big Ben will be renamed the Elizabeth Tower in honour of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
The proposal was backed up by all senior officials including David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Ed Miliband. This will be the second time a landmark has been renamed in history to honour six decades on the throne. Previously, the square tower was renamed to The Victoria Tower to mark Queen Victoria's long reign.
