Mr Peake has confirmed his impending mission to the space station that will begin in December. He said that he is going to the orbiting lab with the goal to share his experiences that may inspire a new generation to become interested in science and engineering.
"The legacy I hope is that this will inspire a new generation to look at science, to look at space, as an exciting career path, and to make choices that push them in that direction," he said.
Mr Peake has gone to Moscow for his final training before flying to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan for the launch. His Soyuz is scheduled to lift off at 11:02 GMT on 15 December. He should be floating through the hatch into the International Space Station by 18:33 GMT. He will be traveling with American astronaut Tim Kopra and Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko. They will joint three residents that are already on the platform.
Mr Peake, who will spend about six months inside a sealed complex, said that he will miss his family and of course, fresh air.
