'Breaking Bad' star Bryan Cranston to make Broadway debut

The Breaking Bad star will portray the role of Lyndon B. Johnson in All the Way live on stage.

After playing the role of Walter White in the popular US series Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston will make his Broadway debut this winter.

He will be playing Lyndon B. Johnson in All the Way which was written by Robert Schenkkan, a Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright. The three-hour, sold out drama is currently nearing its end at the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Reviewing the play, Joel Brown of The Boston Globe wrote, "Cranston delivers Johnson's outsize presence, his cackling humour and sudden rages, his canny manoeuvring and his self-pity."

The play follows the life of Lyndon B Johnson through his first year in office after he assumed power following the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963. Schenkkan leaked the news on social media over the weekend where he revealed that the production would transfer to Broadway during the current season.

Jeffrey Richards, the production team lead, confirmed the move on Sunday to The New York Times. Aside from three-time Emmy winner Cranston, no other cast has been confirmed. Exact dates and theatre have not been set as well.
