Screen legend Sir Roger Moore has joined the cast of 'Benidorm'.
The film star, who famously played secret agent James Bond in seven films from 1973 to 1985, is reportedly a huge fan of the ITV1 holiday resort sitcom.
The 82-year-old 'Live and Let Die' star will play a local dignitary in the upcoming series.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: "Roger is a massive fan so we thought it would be fun to get him involved. Producers approached his people and they said he'd love to, so we came up with a role for him.
"They've gone for something which they think he'll be comfortable with - a local dignitary. He's known for playing smooth and authoritative characters so it is right up his street. You could hardly have him sitting around the pool in a wife-beater vest drinking lager all day."
The 82-year-old actor is the latest in a string of stars who have signed up to appear in the next series of 'Benidorm'.
other stars who are tipped to appear in a forthcoming Christmas special include 'Pineapple Dance Studios' funnyman Louie Spence and 'Blind Date' host Cilla Black.
Su Pollard also has a cameo role, of which she stated: "I'm going as myself and I'm singing at the Benidorm Palace doing cabaret and everything goes wrong! It'll be really funny."
