Blurred Lines singer Robin Thicke and Paula Patton split after nine year marriage

The couple, who released a joint statement to People Magazine, said that they’d always be ‘best friends’.

Following months of speculation that their marriage has been on the rocks, Blurred Lines singer Robin Thicke and wife Paula Patton has confirmed that they have decided to separate after nine years of marriage.

In a joint statement released to People Magazine, they said: "We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.”

The couple, who married in 2005, met when they were just teenagers. They welcome their son, Julian, in 2010.

A few months ago, Robin had talked about his ‘wonderful’ wife and marriage in an interview. He said: “I knew she was special the night I met her. I was only 14, but she was already the most special girl.”

“As a relationship progresses, you fall in love again in so many deeper ways. You realize that you need each other and you can’t live without each other."
However, the singer was pictured groping a young fan just days after the interview.

Patton is a celebrated actress with roles in Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol and 2 Guns.
