The Great British Bake Off, which is set to move to Channel 4, has managed to increase its number of viewers by half a million on Wednesday. An average of 10.3 million viewers saw the fourth episode of the series and the number peaked at 11.3 million viewers in the last five minutes.
On Monday, Love Productions, which makes the programme for the BBC, has confirmed that it signed a new deal with Channel 4. This was followed by the announcement of presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins that they will leave the show after the current series.
Judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood have yet to make an announcement about the pending move.
During negotiations about the show, the BBC is thought to have offered £15m per year to keep Bake Off on the BBC. However, it was understood that Love Productions refused to entertain any offers below £25m per year.
