When you’re travelling, you may have noticed that those car rental businesses that happen to be located right by the airport seem to charge a hefty fee. Demand is high, and so is convenience but with a little bit of extra work you may be able to save yourself some money on a car rental.
•Compare pricing for car rentals online first for any car rental companies within an acceptable radius of where you’ll be staying. Also read any terms and conditions that happen to be available online so you know what is included in the quotes.
•Once you’ve found an acceptable choice, contact the car rental company to see if pickup and drop off of a vehicle is included. Some companies are willing to pick you up at the airport if necessary.
If you don’t need transportation to a hotel or other venue, the car rental company may be willing to drop off a rental at the location of your choice. Definitely see what options are available and if they incur any additional price.
•Don’t settle for a story about not having the type of vehicle you wanted. Make certain you are getting what you pay for, or are reimbursed the difference.
•When hiring a rental car, mention any travel membership or other affiliations you have to see if you qualify for any discounts on the car rental.
•Look for coupons. While this may seem odd, there are some car rental places which may offer coupons, either online or in flyers.
•Don’t be shy about price matching questions to car rental company if you find a better deal with a competitor, but be sure your paperwork reflects the deal you agreed upon before you sign anything.
