Bees Swarm Motorway Following Crash

A truck carrying hundreds of hives crashes, sending millions of bees to the motorway.

Millions of bees swarmed a motorway after the truck that carries hundreds of hives crashed. Many of them had to killed to clean up the truck following the accident. However, bee keepers responded to the scene and attempted to save as many of the insects as possible. 

 

The bees were being transported by the Belleville Honey Company when the truck that carries them crashed on a motorway in Coeur d’ Alene in Idaho, USA. 

 

Coeur d'Alene Fire Chief Kenneth Gabriel told KXLY News: "We've seen all kinds of things that have wrecked, we've seen animals and stuff but we've never seen bees. So this is a little different."

 

Sgt. Jonelle Greear from Idaho State Police added: "We've all been stung a few times."

 

Nobody was reported hurt in the incident although the motorway had to be closed down to one lane for several hours. 

 

The same company lost another 448 hives back in April following another accident involving another truck, which crashed close to the second crash scene in Lynwood, Idaho.
