David Beckham will make his movie debut in the forthcoming Goal trilogy.
The three films follow the fortunes of a young star, played by Diego Luna, as he chases his dream of football stardom.
Beckham will appear in all three films, playing himself.
His Real Madrid team mates Raul and Zinedine Zidane have also signed up to take part.
The England skipper told Variety magazine that he hoped the films would send a positive message to young players.
"It's no secret that I want to be involved in youth coaching when I finally hang up my boots and I believe that the Goal trilogy will provide a positive message to kids around the world," he said.
Goal is the story of Santiago (Luna) - a young kid from LA - who lands a dream move to Newcastle United. After impressing in the Premiership he gets a transfer to Real Madrid and then goes on to star in the World Cup.
The first part of the trilogy - cataloguing Santiago's discovery and adventures in Geordieland - is due to be released in August 2005.
