A recent study has claimed that drinking more than five espressos worth of caffeine a day can cause heart problems, insomnia, and panic attacks.
The European Food Safety Authority said that several people are consuming more caffeine because they are not aware of all the different sources. It reports that more than 400mg a day can have health consequences.
Based on a study, around a third people in Denmark, 17per cent in the Netherlands, and 14per cent in Germany consume more than 400 mg.
An EFSA spokesman told the BBC: "If you have a bar of dark chocolate at 11:00 and espresso with lunch, a tea at 16:00 and vodka-Red Bull in the evening - that's a lot of caffeine over the day."
