Jimi Jamison, the frontman of rock band Survivor and co-writer and singer of the Baywatch theme, has died at the age of 63 at his home.
The musician’s death came just days before the band were due to begin a tour. Jamison was actively days prior, having played a show with his band in California.
The group confirmed the news on Twitter, saying: "Survivor is very shocked & saddened by the passing of our brother Jimi Jamison. Our thoughts, love & prayers go out to his friends & family."
The band, which also includes Frankie Sullivan, Billy Ozzello, Walter Tolentino, and Ryan Sullivan, are scheduled to go on tour this month including playing five dates in the UK. However, it’s thought that these dates will now be compromised.
Jamison joined the band in 1984 following their success with Eye of the Tiger and was the lead singer on songs such as The Moment Of Truth, The Search is Over, and Is This Love.
He also co-wrote and performed I’m Always Here – the classic feel good theme tune from the 1990s television series Baywatch.
He left Survivor in 2006 to continue his solo career but rejoined in 2011.
