The first promotional poster for the highly anticipated Batman Begins has been unveiled.

Batman Begins sees Christian Bale take on the lead role with an impressive supporting cast that includes Liam Neeson and Gary Oldman.

The film is a prequel telling the story of how millionaire orphan Bruce Wayne became the crime fighting Dark Knight.

The poster, due for release in the UK this month, sees the image of Batman emerging from the shadows of a cave as bats swarm upwards towards the light.

Batman Begins also features Michael Caine as long suffering butler Alfred and 28 Days Later star Cillian Murphy as the Scarecrow.
