Well-known antiques expert David Barby, of Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip fame, has died after suffering a stroke. The TV presenter died in the hospital where he was confined after his sudden illness.
Myleene Klass was among the first people to remember Barby, tweeting: “Just heard the sad news about David Barbarella. RIP great man.”
Her tweet was followed by several other comments from friends and colleagues. One of them, fellow antiques expert David Harper, also posted a message on his Facebook page, saying: “We’ll miss him terribly.” Harper also thanked fans and friends for the condolences and tributes for Barby, saying that he ‘will pass them on to his family’.
David then uploaded a picture, which was taken just a week ago, of himself, John Barrowman, and Myleene together with Barby. The caption read: “One of last pics of lovely David Barby. Only a couple of weeks ago with @KlassMyleene & @Team_Barrowman He’s having fun!”
Fans also came out with their kind words. One fan tweeted: “Really sad to hear about David Barby, he was one of my all time favourite antique experts.”
Another fan also posted on the micro-blogging site: “My father told me that dear David Barby has died. V sad news. He was much loved in the antiques world.”
