Band The White Stripes have announced their split after 13 years together.
The Detroit duo, made up of Jack and Meg White, said that they will “make no further new recordings or perform live".
They thanked fans via a statement on their website and cited that they were calling it a day due to a “myriad of reasons, but mostly to preserve what is beautiful and special about the band”.
However it is rumoured that the split was due to MegÂ’s continuing stage fright, which plagued her throughout her time in the band.
The White Stripes formed in 1998 and released six studio albums.
Jack is now said to be concentrating on his two other projects, The Dead Weather, featuring The KillsÂ’ Alison Mosshart, and The Raconteurs.
