After ten years away from our screens it apears as though the "Police Academy" series could be making a comeback.
Warner Bros and Village Roadshow are teaming up to co-finance an eighth instalment of the series.
Jerry Weintraub, who produced "Ocean's Eleven", is on board, with series creator Paul Maslansky executive producing.
Maslansky commented: "I felt it was time to start again.
"I saw that 'Starsky & Hutch' and a number of other revivals were doing really well. 'Police Academy' has such a great history. I thought, 'Why not?' "
He took the project to Village Roadshow, who then pitched it to Warner, according to the Hollywood Reporter
The first "Police Academy" film came out in 1984 and took $81 million in the cinema and a further $39 million in video rentals. Six more films were made running through to 1994. Actors such as Sharon Stone and Kim Cattrall starred in various episodes - alongside regulars David "Tackleberry" Graf, Bubba "Hightower" Smith, and Steve "Mahoney" Guttenberg.
