The film, an examination of the Bush administration's use of the September 11th terrorist attacks, has also become the first documentary to top the US box office chart.
Despite a limited release "Fahrenheit 9/11" took 16 million in its opening weekend, overtaking Moore's "Bowling for Columbine" as the highest grossing documentary of all time.
