Despite giving out the biggest cash prize in TV history - a staggering £1.5million - and despite the fact that it stars the much loved Ant and Dec, quiz show ‘Red or Black’ still got rather unimpressive rating and viewership.
Last Saturday’s episode managed to attract less than 5million viewers, which is not even half of the number that Ant and Dec usually attract on their other shows.
The duo’s other TV shows include ‘I’m A Celebrity’ and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. Both regularly attract at least 10million viewers.
Because of this, it has been reported that the series will be axed as the viewing figures isn’t enough to justify the show’s massive budget which is about £15million a series.
Experts agree that although the two hosts have steady huge fan base, the format of the series is less attractive.
A source told The Sun: “They have done two series and it still hasn’t worked. They’re not jumping up and down about it, but it’s highly unlikely they’ll make more. Their focus is on I’m A Celebrity and Saturday Night Takeaway.”
Red or Black, like the X-Factor, is produced by Simon Cowell.
