Ant and Dec to host Pop Idol spin-off

Comic TV duo Ant and Dec are set to host a celebrity version of 'Pop Idol'.

The talent show will see a host of stars battling it out to win a record contract.

TV bosses are reportedly hoping 'X Factor' judge Simon Cowell " who worked with Ant and Dec on the original 'Pop Idol' - will agree to appear on the ten-day show.

A source is quoted in Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying: "The only sticking point is whether Simon will sign up " the boys are waiting to see if he will do it.

"Simon will be the cherry on the icing but he has 'American Idol' commitments and doesn't know if he will be able to find the time. Everyone is crossing fingers we can get him."

Ant and Dec are also set to make their film debut in 'Alien Autopsy' this year.

The sci-fi comedy opens in April.
