Amy Winehouse’s family is remembering the tragic singer this week on the anniversary of her death. Relatives of the troubled singer said in a message that they are ‘thinking of a daughter and sister that meant the world to them’.
Despite Amy’s death already being a year away, the family said that they are still ‘struggling to come to terms’ with it. The family also shared that they ‘will be spending the day together’ to make the event. They also expressed their gratitude to fans who shared their sympathy and support over the past year.
A year ago, the singer was found dead in her north London home. She was 27. The cause of death was alcohol poisoning.
Dionne Bromfield, Amy’s 16-year-old goddaughter, also offered a tribute to the singer, writing: “I believe in angels, the kind that heaven sends…Amy, you are surrounded by angels who are your friends. It’s been a year since you left and I still think about you every day.” Dionne is especially close to the singer, and the pair even performed onstage together just days before Amy’s death.
Dionne continued: “You were my inspiration, my mentor, my biggest fan, my one true confidante…you were my world.”
