Amy inquest re-opens

Investigation into singer's death to resume today...

The inquest into Amy WinehouseÂ’s death is due to resume today at St Pancras Coroners Court in London.

The investigation was opened and then adjourned in August, following the death of the award-winning musician.

A post-mortem carried out at the time failed to establish a cause of death, however subsequent toxicology reports confirmed that there were no illegal substances present in her body. 

A statement released at the same time as the test results explained:

"Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death."

Winehouse's father Mitch later revealed that he believes his daughter may have died as she attempted to detox.

During an interview to mark the launch of the Amy Winehouse Foundation, he told journalist and talk show host Anderson Cooper:

"The periods of abstinence were becoming longer, and the periods of drinking were becoming shorter."

It recently came to light that a detailed dossier into the causes of the starÂ’s death was handed into a North London police station last week.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said:

"Police were informed that material relating to a forthcoming inquest may have been delivered to an incorrect address.

"Inquiries are now under way to establish the full circumstances of this matter."

Amy died back in July at the age of just 27.
