Amazon changes free delivery on some orders under £10

Amazon has announced changes to its free delivery policy on some items. The online retailer has said there will be ‘a £10 minimum spend’ in order to get their ‘Free Super Saver Delivery’.

It is understood that this new threshold won’t relate to things like books and DVDs, among a number of other things.

Many people using the Amazon site may be used to opting for ‘Free Super Saver Delivery’ on any item and reading that the delivery would take between three to five working days, as they have chosen this option. Now Amazon has made their announcement.

Amazon said in a statement to its shoppers: “We wanted to let you know that Amazon.co.uk has introduced a £10 minimum spend to qualify for Free Super Saver Delivery in a number of product categories, effective 23 July 2013.

“Orders that include books, DVDs, Blu-rays, music, video games and software products continue to qualify for Free Super Saver Delivery with no minimum spend threshold.”

They added that orders for less than £10 could still have free delivery if a qualifying item (such as a book) was included.

Amazon said that the alteration will affect a “very small proportion of orders”.

Amazon sells a range of products on their site, including CDs, toys, and clothes among other items.
