Scientists from the China Computer Go team will issue a challenge to AlphaGo by the end of 2016.
The news was revealed in an event in Beijing called “The Forum for Understanding the AlphaGo War between Man and Machine and Chinese Artificial Intelligence” organised by the Chinese Go Association and the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence.
Google’s AlphaGo, the artificial intelligence programme, has beaten South Korean professional Go player Lee Sedol in Seoul earlier this month. The 4-1 defeat is the latest in strings of pursuits in which technology has triumphed over humanity.
Following the announcement, Shanghai Securities News has reported that a team from China now plans to challenge Google’s AlphaGo.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Google confirmed that the firm’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, has visited one of China’s top Go training schools to develop his understanding of the ancient board game and of the country.
